Why not take advantage of a Shopmobility scooter to help you get around more easily. You can scoot around the shops in Rotherham, or Dinnington town centres. Our Shopmobility Centre in Rotherham is based at 2 Effingham Square and is open Monday to Friday 9.00am until 17.00pm and Saturday 09.00am until 16.30pm in Dinnington we are based within the Dinnington Interchange.
You can book Shopmobility any time from six months ahead up to the day before.
If you are travelling outside the Rotherham area we can advise you about the availability of Shopmobility services at your destination.
Scooter Loans
Membership of Shopmobility entitles you to free use of the scooters within Rotherham and Dinnington on a daily basis, (although donations are gratefully received). Scooters are only loaned to registered members of Shopmobiliy, and the member is the ONLY person allowed to use the scooter. Remember when you loan a scooter you take full responsibility for it whilst it is in your care.
Scooters are available for up to one week, although we do make a charge for this service, please ask about the current charge.
We Can also deliver a scooter to your home address, a delivery charge willapply. We can even pop a scooter onto the Handybus pick you up and take you anywhere within Rotherham, (Dial-A-Ride fares will apply).
Points to Remember
- Always keep the speed reduced when in busy or confined areas.
- Be courteous and show consideration for pedestrians, particularly elderly people or those who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing.
- It is not always safe to travel on footways or pedestrian areas at the highest speed if pedestrians are not able to move out of the way quickly enough.
- Use dropped kerbs whenever possible and when climbimg kerbs approach them at right angles.
- When leaving the scooter to go in doors always take the key with you and try to leave it where it won't inconvenience others.
- NEVER let anyone ride on your scooter with you even if this is a small child, as this upsets the balance of the vehicle.
Finally, if you do have an accident of any sort, always let us know, so that we can give the vehicle a safety check before somebody else uses it and take any other action which may be required.
Wheelchair Loans
Your membership entitles you to free use of a wheelchair in Rotherham Town Centre. Wheelchairs can only be loaned to registered users of Shopmobility and the member is the ONLY person allowed to use the wheelchair.
Wheelchairs are available to hire for longer periods if you require a wheelchair for your holidays etc, please ask about our current charges.
We can also deliver a wheelchair to your home address, (a delivery charge will apply).
Points to Remember
- You can hire a wheelchair for up to two weeks maximum. If you find that you need the wheelchair for more than the agreed period you will need to contact the Booking Centre to agree a new return date. You must contact the Booking Centre at least two days before the original return date.
YOU WILL BE CHARGED £10 PER DAY IF THE WHEELCHAUR IS NOT RETURNED BY THE RETURN DATE.
- You the hirer are responsible for the wheelchair whilst it is on loan.
- Any thefts and all accidents MUST be reported at The Booking Centre. A Full account of any theft or accident is required including the names and addresses of any witnesses.
