Leeds City Centre - Monday 3rd December
|
Leeds is probably the best City in the country for shopping outside London. The beauty of Leeds is that the city centre is one mass of shops, with large areas of the city centre pedestrianised its makes shopping a pleasure.
Kirkgate Market is one of the oldest markets in the country, it is regarded as the city's prime shopping location, the market claims to be the largest indoor market in Europe. Visitors from the Edwardian era might recognise much of the market hall today but they would no doubt be perplexed at some of the items now on sale.
Corn Exchange the original Corn Exchange was in New Briggate, the current building completed in 1863 is one of Britain's finest Victorian buildings, from the outside the building appears to be circular, but is clearly oval in shape when you go inside.. In recent years the Corn Exchange has undergone redevelopment, into a fabulous shopping mall. Many of the shops sell goods that are that little bit different.
